James Miller

City Council Representitive
James Miller

James Miller is presently Penticton City Council’s representative on the library board. First elected in a 2021 byelection, he was subsequently re-elected in 2022, second overall.

He came to the valley in 2008 as managing editor of The Penticton Herald (daily) and during that time spent two-and-a-half years as managing editor of The Kelowna Daily Courier.

James discovered his love of libraries from his mother and appreciation of used bookstores from his father. James mostly reads non-fiction with his favourite being All the President’s Men (Bernstein/Woodward) in non-fiction and Jurassic Park (Crichton) in fiction. Naturally, James has a love and passion for print newspapers. As for movies, his top three always change but, at the time of this writing, it’s Murder on the Orient Express (1974 version), Oliver Stone’s JFK and Witness.

Outside of work and council, James and his wife Gisele share a love of dogs and live music.
