Afterschool Coding Club: Rolling with Robots Take 2!

Please note: This program is a repeat of the previous Sphero Afterschool Coding Club because our waitlist was so full! If you have already attended the previous Sphero program on Friday March 2, please consider waiting until we run one with different activities!

Interested in learning about robots and block-style coding all in one go?

Are you an expert in navigating tricky mazes?

Maybe, do you just want to make a robotic ball moo?

We've got the program just for you!

Open to tweens ages 8-12, this program will be featuring the Sphero SPRK+ educational robotic ball and will have activities from coding shape challenges to having the robots make farm animal sounds to completely a maze challenge! 

Maximum of 12 tweens, this Afterschool Coding Club program requires registration and pair work.

Registration opens Wednesday, April 25.

Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) Meeting

Sadly it's not another Friday the 13th.. BUT MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU EXACTLY ONE WEEK LATE!

If you want to boss the library around, are a superstar event planner, have stellar skills for finding books, comics, dvds & more that teens will love that we can fill our shelves with, AND want free pizza - we want you! The YAC is a group of teens aged 13-18 who tell us at the library how we're doing as well as plan our monthly teen events. 

Details of what will be discussed at the meeting will be released soon!

 

Oh yeah, did we mention the free pizza? Drop-in, fill up, and share your thoughts. We want to hear from you!

Don't forget, YAC participation can boost your resume & earn you Community Connections hours for your grad portfolio - or other possible volunteer requirements!

Teen Game Show Night!

We're trying something new at the library, and hopefully featuring some familiar and favourite game show ideas! Join your library staff hosts for a fun-filled night of competitive shenanigans.

Snacks and drinks provided, this free Library program is open to ages 13-18.

Afterschool Coding Club: Choose Your Own Codeventure

It's a free for all today at the Library's Coding Club! Pick one or two or more different coding activities to complete in an hour and a half long program that interest you! From coding games in Scratch to creating a ball toss game with one of our robots to making a play-dough controlled photo booth, the world is your digital oyster.

Open to tweens ages 8-12, this program will have a variety of different Scratch projects, Sphero SPRK+ coding activities, Makey Makey activities, & more!

Maximum of 12 tweens, this Afterschool Coding Club program requires registration and both pair and individual work. 

Registration opens Wednesday, May 9 at 10:00 am
