Celebrate Library Month with Penticton Public Library
October is Canadian Library Month, and we're rolling out the red carpet for book lovers of all ages at Penticton Public Library! Our special celebration includes a library card drive for adults over 18 and an exciting colouring contest for our younger patrons under 18. It's the perfect opportunity to deepen your literary journey and enjoy some unique, exclusive rewards.
For Teens and Kids: Dragons Read! Colouring Contest
For those under 18, participate in our Dragons Read! Colouring Contest by picking up a colouring sheet. Return your completed masterpiece for a chance to win one of five $40 gift cards to either The Book Shop or Coles, plus a fantastical 3D printed dragon!

Can I colour more than 1 picture? |
You can, but you will only receive one ballot to enter the prize draw. |
Are there different age ranges for the pictures? |
There are two designs available to colour. We have not assigned age ranges to the pictures. |
Can I keep my picture? |
The completed colouring pages will be displayed in the library. We will not be able to return any artwork when the display is over. You may opt out of having your artwork in the display. |
How are winners chosen? |
We will randomly draw the five winners during the first week of November and all winners will be contacted. We will not publicly announce the winners. |
Can I colour a picture if I am 18 or older? |
Patrons of any age are welcome to colour a picture but only kids and teens up to age 17 are eligible to win a prize. There is a card drive for adults, see below. |
For Adults: Library Card Drive
If you're 18 or older, bring a fellow adult to sign up for a new library card or renew an expired one, and both of you will have the chance to colour a special edition image. This artwork will be sublimated onto a tote bag, a keepsake that will remind you of your library adventures for years to come. Bring more than one friend or family member, and you'll be entered into a draw for a $50 gift certificate to a Penticton restaurant of your choice for each additional person. Remember, the offer is limited to one tote bag per person, and you must be eligible for a library card. But hurry—there are a limited number of tote bags!
Join us in celebrating the joy of reading and community at Penticton Public Library this October!

How does this work if I have a library card? |
You are the one bringing another adult (18+) into the library. That person then has to get a library card. **You can refer as many people as they like, but you only get one bag. If you'd rather have a ballot than a bag, that’s fine. |
What if I refer multiple people? |
For every additional person you successfully refer, you get a ballot entry for a $50 gift certificate to the Penticton restaurant of your choice. |
Is there a limit to how many people can get a bag? |
We have 240 bags available. |
Can my child get a bag? |
If you would like to give YOUR bag to your child, absolutely. There is a colouring contest for the kids which is also happening this month. |
When will the bags be ready? |
The Makerspace team will process the bags and have them ready for pickup in November. Patrons will be contacted directly when their bags are ready for pick-up. |
