Penticton Public Library is looking for a fun and team-oriented teen (aka Student Page) to join our League of Extraordinary Teenagers! This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is enthusiastic about books, enjoys organization, and can help with our in-person programs.

Our Student Pages are friendly people who want to make a difference in the community. They ensure that our materials are on the shelves for patrons (the public) and staff to find; they use their powers and knowledge to shelve, move, and search for library items. They help direct patrons to the things they want and provide great customer service.

• You must be a current student, and intend to be a student in 2025.
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
• If you are 14 or 15 years old, you must have permission from your parent or guardian to work. A young person who is 16 years or older can work in BC without anyone’s permission. (Canadian Bar Association- Employment Standards for Youth)

• Attention to detail.
• An empathetic and non-judgemental attitude.
• Ability to learn quickly and accept feedback.
• Personal autonomy- able to keep oneself busy and productive.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Desire and ability to contribute positively and work successfully within a team environment.

Physical requirements of the Student Page position include lifting library materials, reaching and bending to place materials on shelves, and pushing and pulling book drop bins and carts.

This position has a varied schedule which includes mandatory Tuesday/Thursday evening and weekend shifts. It is part of CUPE Union Local 608 (Public Library sub-local). You must be eligible to work in Canada.
